Hi,

I broke my leg when I was rollerblading in my local park. I have since had to spend a lot of time in hospital receiving treatment and I am unable to work because I am bed ridden. I wondered if you could tell me what I should do because I am in an IVA and may not be able to make my contributions for a while until I am back at work. What are my options?

Many thanks

Rob

Hello Rob.

It sounds like you've had a bit of bad luck. Let's hope I can help.

Are you in an IVA with ClearDebt? If you are, and your IVA was approved after 1 January 2007 you will have an insurance policy with us which could cover your contributions until you return to work. We call this "IVA Protect". If this is the case, please call me or a colleague on 0800 0192095 to discuss making a claim. We at ClearDebt believe that we are the only IVA Company which provides insurance of this kind (at no extra cost to you).

If your IVA was approved prior to this date, you should still contact your Supervisor to discuss how they could help you.

I can only give you generic advice as I would need to know more about your circumstances before I could be more precise.

I wish you a speedy recovery!

Hope your leg gets better Rob!

John - i have been reading things about this 'IVA Protect' for a while now and am interested in some more information.

As you may have read in my earlier posts, i am toying between the idea of Bankruptcy and an IVA.

thanks in advance for your help mate

Good morning, Stu.

IVA Protect does exactly that. It is an insurance policy which is set up by ClearDebt on all suitable IVAs. Please click on the link to find out more.

My understanding is that we're the only IVA provider with this model.

Thanks, i will have a proper look on the link on my lunch hour.

I am curious to know though, if you could perhaps just summarise – how would I make the payments to this insurance policy? Would I put it in the proposal as part of my expenses? Is it a monthly payment?

On the contrary, silk_cut, IVA Protect is provided at no extra cost to our clients, and at the lowest possible cost to creditors.

A client of mine is currently off work due to a serious operation and hopes to be back to work by October of this year. She didn't even know she was covered under IVA Protect until I had sorted the administration claim for her. She now has peace of mind, as do her creditors.

At ClearDebt, we endeavour to be the most transparent, personal and ethical IVA provider in the United Kingdom. Our Web Site is continuously updated with the most recent news within the industry, along with any updates regarding our services.

If there is anything that you don't understand, just ask! We're here in the forum, or call us on 08000 192 095.

I don't know why other IVA providers don't offer insurance, but whan I can tell you is that is a good idea. Peace of mind for all concerned.

Interesting to read about this and the fact that anyone in an IVA with CLEARDEBT after Jan 2007 is automatically included.

What about those of us who have been in one with CLEARDEBT for a couple of years, why aren't we included - especially if we've never missed a payment, have a good history etc?

If we're not included, why not?
Should I want to have this type of cover in place, and I'm a CLEARDEBT client, then surely it shouldn't cost me anything extra - or in the words of that well known TV advert "brand new customers only".....

Seems as though as per the norm with anything these days, if you're a loyal and good customer/client, you're penalised when new innovations (potentially beneficial to you) are bought out Rolling Eyes Shocked Rolling Eyes Question

IVA Protect is, as discussed above a new product. Unfortunately, as this is not written into the Proposals of our older clients we can not offer this product to them at this time.

If one of our older clients falls in to further difficulties following a redundancy or sickness etc, we will do our utmost to assist.

I agree with what BigBaldTone is saying as I my self get a little frustrated sometimes with introductory offers only offered to new customers. But unfortunately, payments to IVA Protect have to be sanctioned by creditors first, in the Proposal.

Regards.
