hello
Im in my 3rd year of an IVA but On Valentines day I am gettin married. My husband to be does have money and a house, can i still carry on with my IVA as normal, he wont have to pay the money off or anythin will he

Congratulations on the impending nuptials – hope everything goes well.
First, your new husband will not get dragged into your IVA. It’s your agreement with creditors and it stands whatever (unless you default on it).
There’s a bit of a catch though. Your IVA gets reviewed annually. If, at that time, your review shows that your cost of living has dropped a lot because you are now sharing expenses with someone, then there is a strong possibility that your supervisor will be required to ask you for more – simply because you will be able to make higher contributions to your outstanding debt.
No reason not to get married though! Being three years into an IVA means you are one of tthose most likely to make a success of it: Best of luck on both fronts. |
