Hello Sir/Madam.
Thank you for your post.
I have drafted cases before where my clients were living with HIV. In one case, my client had told me that he'd lived with the virus for 9 years before contacting us. But so far I have not come across a case where my client has had to give up work as a result of their condition.
My understanding is that most cases of HIV are treatable for a long period of time until the therapy can no longer control the virus. If it's the virus that has got the better of you, or another medical problem that may cause you to give up work it is important to dicsuss this with your Insolvency Advisor or Supervisor.
If you are a client of ClearDebt, I'd be more than happy to look at your case, and where possible I will attempt to vary the terms of the IVA. The final decision would be up to the majority vote of your creditors.
Also, if you are worried about the fact you did not disclose this earlier, I wouldn't worry about that too much. One can understand why you may not wish to disclose such information, especially as we would never ask such a question.
Finally, I would like you to know that if you do have to give up work, you may be entitled to additional benefits to assist you to live comfortably with your condition. If you would like information about these, please speak to your local Citizens' Advice Bureau.
I hope this helps?
